Oğuz Gündoğdu

Hi, I am Oğuz Gündoğdu. I’ve been drawing since childhood. I’ve always interested in traditional art. As a result of this interest, I chose to study graphic design at university. Then I realised design was not exactly the thing that I wanted to do, and the things I was doing was not sufficient enough. After that realisation, my interest in painting began to be more digitalized. Even though I tried to advance myself in this area, I always felt like something was missing. Via “The Bad Cat” (2016) movie, I heard about Anima Istanbul, and my further research led me to Anima School.

Even though I didn't know exactly what I wanted back then, Anima School helped me thinking clearly. After our meetings and conversations, I decided to take concept and character design course. During my education, I’ve learned and experienced many things. Anima School helped me minimise my deficiencies and improve myself.

Having a great passion for cinema, I was so excited by the thought of excelling in concept design. Though I tried to create some concept design works in the past, after Anima School my skills have improved dearly. When I compare my pre and post Anima School works, I can see big differences.

Things I’ve learned through character design education have also helped me see, watch and observe things differently in my everyday life. Having learned a different drawing technique also motivated me a lot. Since I can use 3D programs that I couldn’t do before, now I am able

to work easier and able to create more unique works. As I’ve improved myself dearly by the help of Anima School, now I work as a professional freelancer, and create digital game designs.

I want to thank my Anima School lecturers for sharing their knowledge and experiences generously.
